If you want the whole experience listen to 'Nova' by VNV Nation, particularly starting at 4:24 in the song and just imagine yourself there in the nebula, that's exactly what I'm conveying in this piece.

Video: [link]

*Hint: there is a slight beam of golden light shining on the two explorers*

*My first DD! Thanks everyone!*

I would consider this one of my best paintings as of yet.

Was listening to VNV Nation with working on most of this so maybe their was some influence.

dude, this is God to me! Your neatness is just out of this world, the strokes which signify the 2 explorers..AWESOME. There is no mistake at all, the cracks on the planet are just so intrinsic & original & the different planes on the planet itself gives the depth of the land. Trust me, there is nothing wrong in this, simply nothing wrong & there is no need for improvement. But just to point out something I am telling you this, look acc. to your painting you are at a great height from the planet. When such an effect or spaceship or a portal opens then the clouds from the atmosphere create a gateway, exactly what you have s=done in this painting. but the upper end of the opening of clouds ( top left corner) would be visible only if you are at a lower height from the planet, so you could have shown more of the planet in such a way that it seems ur closer to the land & looking above at a greater angle of elevation! Or or on land & looking at an approx angle of 75-80 deg, but this would not show the planet! So being at a lower height from the planet was an option! But this is just another way in which you could do the same thing! I am not as good as you are but just gave my inputs! Hats off to you! & the font rocks!
